Downtown Gainesville is a beautiful place to take a walk and enjoy North Georgia. This is a great way to learn about the placement of the planets in relationship to the sun and moon in a very practical way. The Solar System Walking Tour is a scale model of the solar system.
This local attraction is a community project that began in 1998 with the North Georgia Astronomers group. The tour, once completed, is a total distance of 1.8 miles and includes the following locations:
